On April 18, 2015, Andrey Ivanov took home a 3rd place finish at TopSomm, the U.S. Sommelier Championship. This caps a long run of successful showings at this competition, but the first medal on the national level. Andrey won the Central Region finals in March and also represented the region at TopNewSomm finals the previous three years. TopNewSomm is reserved for those competitors under 30.

This year, top honors went to Jonathan Ross of New York and second place went to Dana Gaiser also of the Big Apple. TopNewSomm honors went to Martin Sheehan-Stross of San Francisco. The competition consisted of an oral theory exam, a service practical, and a six-wine blind tasting flight.
