Join us for our next installment of our wine class series, aptly named Sunday School. Andrey and Alisha will take on a specific grape and go down the proverbial rabbit hole about its historical context and wine making styles.
In March, we will be covering Alisha’s favorite white grape, Chenin Blanc. Its historic home may be the Loire Valley in France, but some incredible examples are also being produced in South Africa. We will taste old vintage Vouvray from 1995 and Savennieres from one of our favorite producers. We will then compare it with South Africa, arguably the most exciting region for this variety in the new world today. In South Africa, this grape has found its’ new home and is often called Steen by the locals. Alheit Vineyards is doing an incredible job finding and bottling incredible old vine Chenin expressions from around the country. We will taste some unicorns there too!
